This is apropos a Business Recorder news item, "Nawaz asks whether CJ wants him convicted" carried by the newspaper on Wednesday. Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has been quoted telling an accountability court judge that if the Chief Justice wants his conviction then he may transfer these references to the apex court and execute or send him to jail.
Nawaz Sharif is perhaps of the view that his relentless attacks on the higher judiciary will work for the party's electoral prospects. Little does he however know that he's repeating the mistakes that he committed during the 1990s. It is a fundamental right of every citizen to get speedy justice. The question is why Nawaz is keen to employ delaying tactics.
