GCU Annual Sports: Bilal wins 5000 meters race, Tehmina takes long jump medal
Muhammad Bilal, a student of Intermediate, Thursday won the 5000 meters race, on the second day of the 118th Annual Sports of Government College University, Lahore which was marked by the athletic competitions among students, faculty and staff members. Celebrating the women's day, a large number of female students also participated in the sports competitions. Ms Tehmina from Physical Education Department won the Long Jump (girls), while her department fellow Iqra Hussain won the Discus-Throw (Girls).
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Hassan Amir Shah, GCU Sports Board Chairman Professor Dr Ikram ul Haq, Director Sports Khadim Ali Khan and other senior faculty members gave away medals to the winning students and departmental teams. Speaking on the occasion, vice-chancellor Professor Shah said that the real beauty of their annual sports lied in the collective participation of students, Old Ravians and faculty members.
Later, Waseem Akram, another student of Physical Education Department, won the 800-metre Race finishing the race in the 02:06:17. However, in 200 metres final, Jameshad Issa reached the finishing line in 24:71 seconds which earned him a Gold Medal. Sadaat Ullah from Political Science and Qaiser Abbass from Physical Education won the Javelin Throw and Discus-Throw (Boys). A team of GCU Sports Department won the 4x100 metres Staff Relay Race.
