The federal cabinet has allowed Pakistan Army authorities to detain five suspected Pakistanis with immediate effect allegedly involved in anti-state activities, prejudicial to the security of Pakistan; sources close to Interior Secretary told Business Recorder.
The movement of suspected individuals and their detention is governed under section 3 of the Security of Pakistan Act, 1952. One suspect Veero Kohli S/o Dhano is resident of Bartalla, Tehsil Nagarparkar, District Mithi, Sindh. Home Department of Sindh had endorsed recommendations of the Army Authorities. His detention will be for one year.
According to sources, Army Authorities had also recommended to place suspect Muhammad Qasim alias Kala S/o Noor Muhammad resident of village Kote Qazi, Post office Ledheywal Warraich Tehsil and District Gujranwala under preventive detention with the endorsement of Home Department Punjab. His detention will be for three months. The cabinet in its meeting held on February 28, 2018 also approved preventive detention of suspect Khurram Shahzad alias Mitho S/o Ghulam Farid resident of Mohallah Shakoorabad, Post Office Haveli Lakha, Tehsil Depalpur, District Okara for three months with immediate effect in terms of Section 3 of the Security of Pakistan Act, 1952.
The other suspects who have been detained for their involvement in anti-state actives are as follows: (i) Bharmal S/o Mehro resident of Goth Rasani Bahano, bartalla, Tehsil Nagarparkar, District Mithi, Sindh;(ii) Hemon Alias Hamero S/o Dhano Kohli, Mithi; and (iii) Ratata/ S/o Sohna of Bartalla, Tehseil NAgarparkar, District Mithi, Sindh. However, the federal cabinet allowed withdrawal of a summary regarding preventive detention of suspect Ghulam Murtaza Awan S/o Ghulam Mustafa.
The cabinet in its meeting on March 6, 2018 also approved preventive detention of suspect Muhammad Tariq S/o Muhamamd Bashir. According to sources, Interior Ministry submitted different summaries to the cabinet in accordance with the Supreme Court of Pakistan's judgment reported as PLD 2016 SCX 808 for approval of the federal government.
