The Karachi Port handled 148,273 tonnes of cargo comprising 117,523 tonnes of import cargo and 30,750 tonnes of export cargo including 6,921 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargos of 117,523 tonnes comprised of 58,866 tonnes of containerised cargo; 65 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,530 tonnes of DAP; 3,313 tonnes of coal and 53,749 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 30,750 tonnes comprised of 26,531 tonnes of containerised cargo; 682 tonnes of bulk cargo; 592 tonnes of sugar; 1,945 tonnes of wheat and 1,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,921 containers comprising of 4,348 containers import and 2,573 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,486 of 20's and 1,384 of 40's loaded while 02 of 20's and 46 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 670 of 20's and 265 of 40's loaded containers while 451 of 20's and 461 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely Cosco Durban, Hansa Offenburg, MSC Ishyka, Clemens Schult, FPMC-21, Glorious and Industrial Revolution carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. MOL Earnest, Crete-1, YM Cypress, Corona, MTM Hong Kong and Caravos Liberty carrying containers, oil tankers and coal respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 59,277 tonnes includes 10,000 tonnes of diesel oil; 4,820 tonnes of palm oil; 16,400 tonnes of coal; 16,050 tonnes of soyabean seed; 9,062 tonnes of chemical and 2,945 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 29,070 tonnes includes 29,070 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 1,685 containers comprising of 155 containers import and 1,530 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There were four ships namely CV OOCL Washington, MV Ionna Pol, MV Central Park and MT Yuhuo Star carrying containers, coal, chemical and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely CV Qingdao Tuwer carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV OOCL Washington, CV MSC Busan, MV Amadeus, MV Ionna Pol, MV Thor Courage, MV Central Park, MT Al-Salam-II and MT Yuhua Star were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean seeds, coal, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eleven ships namely CV Qingdao Tuwer, CV CMA CGM Amazon, MV Sakizaya Wisdom, MV Pacific Victory, MT Tomson Gas, MT Caspian Gas, MT Maria-III, MT Pitali Lady, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Meltemi and MT Red Eagle carrying containers, canola seeds, coal, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There was seven vessels viz. CV Qingdao Tuwer, CV CMA CGM Amazon, CV Uni Florida, MV Pacific Victory, MT Tomson Gas, MT Pitali Lady and MT Chemroad Sirius carrying containers, coal, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth SSGC LPG Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Oil Terminal respectively on Friday. There were two ships namely MV Sea Meray and MV Caravos Liberty carrying rice and bulk cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday.
There are four ships namely CV CMA CGM Narmada, CV Jack London, CV Libra and MT Al-Dasma carrying containers and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Saturday, while another ship namely CV MSC Tiger carrying containers is due to arrive on Sunday. There are four ships namely CV MSC Silvana, CV MSC Saturn, CV Express Makalu and MT C Express carrying containers and LNG respectively are due to arrive on Monday.
