Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has demanded an inquiry into "disappearance" of Faisal Subhan, the CEO of Capital Engineering, who according to him has "confessed" to Chinese authorities investigating corruption in Multan Metro project that Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and his family were paid hefty kickbacks in their overseas accounts from the project.
The PTI chief chaired a party meeting on Sunday at his Bani Gala residence and discussed the overall situation arose out of the reported disappearance of Faisal Subhan as well as the party''''s strategy to intensify the anti-corruption movement in Punjab.
After the meeting, Khan took to the twitter, saying that after his confession, Subhan has been disappeared and demanded an inquiry into the matter.
"After this confession, Subhan has disappeared and we demand an inquiry into his disappearance. Also, since the senior PAS bureaucracy is compromised, the SC [Supreme Court] must now ensure that contracts for all the Punjab & federal Metro projects plus Orange Train be made public", he demanded through a tweet, adding, "It is unacceptable that such mega public money projects remain covert and evade all transparency and accountability".
"Shahbaz Sharif''''s Panama moment has come as Faisal Subhan, CEO of shell co, Capital Construction, confessed to Chinese regulatory authority investigating corruption in Multan Metro project that SS [Shahbaz Sharif] & family were paid hefty kickbacks in their overseas accounts from this project", Khan said in another tweet.
Meanwhile, the party sources said that the PTI chairman has also issued instructions to his party MPAs in Punjab to break open the Punjab Secretariat by 2:00 pm today (Monday), as protesting bureaucrats have locked the offices in wake of Ahad Cheema''''s arrest by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for his alleged corruption in Ashiana Housing Scheme in Lahore.
The bureaucracy is also divided as officers belonging to Provincial Management Service (PMS) have refused to join the strike being observed by CSS officers, which according to PTI, is being done to save their skin as majority of the civil bureaucracy is hand in gloves with Shahbaz Administration.
According to a statement issued after the meeting, it was decided that the anti-corruption drive in Punjab would further be intensified and public contact campaign would also be launched across the country.
It stated that the public contact drive will formally be launched from Karachi on March 04 where PTI chairman is scheduled to address a public rally.
It stated that the PTI chairman also instructed the parliamentary party in Punjab to approach the court over the matter of disappearance of Faisal Subhan. It was also decided that to raise voice for safety of a former police inspector Abid Boxer who was allegedly involved in extrajudicial killings.
"Shahbaz Sharif has a worst record with regard to extra judicial killing and it is feared that he [Shahbaz] may try to hurt Boxer with a view to save his own skin", the PTI statement added.
Meanwhile, a senior PTI leader Andleeb Abbas has written a letter to Secretary Establishment Division against the "unlawful" promotion of Ahad Cheema from BS-19 to BS-20.
"The promotion of Cheema is unlawful and in clear breach of the service rules. Consequently, in accordance with the powers set out in Efficiency and Discipline Rules 1973, it is requested that Cheema be suspended from service and show cause notice as to why he should not be proceeded against under the applicable Service Rules", she wrote in the letter.
According to a NAB spokesperson, in 2015, the former LDA director general Ahad Cheema misused his authority with criminal intent to award a contract to Bismillah Engineering, a C-4 company part of the joint venture Lahore Casa Developers that was ineligible for the contract.
Bismillah Engineering was only eligible to receive contracts up to Rs 150 million, stated the Nab spokesperson, adding that Cheema caused a loss of Rs 455 million to the national exchequer.
The company owned 90 percent shares, while Sparco Construction Company and China First Metallurgical held 10 percent shares each yet a joint venture of the three companies was awarded a contract in 2015.
The NAB spokesperson further stated that 61,000 citizens had filed requests for the Ashiana Housing Scheme and paid Rs 60 million in processing fees. The cost of the project had increased due to a delay.
The NAB spokesperson further stated that Cheema had also obtained a 32-Kanal piece of land in Lahore Cantonment, registered in the name of his cousin and siblings, Ahmed Cheema and Sadia Mansoor.
