The Senate Functional Committee on Devolution has directed the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) to submit a comprehensive report about valuation of its land and assets as well as ongoing cases in Islamabad High Court and National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The committee met with Senator Mir Kabeer Ahmed Shahi in the chair here at the Parliament House on Thursday. The committee discussed the assets, budget along with balance sheet, employees and other publications of the PTDC.
The general manager PTDC finance told the committee that there were assets worth Rs 54.4 million in 2016 and Rs 56.6 million in 2015 and Rs 36.9 million in 2014. After having discussion, the committee sought a detailed report about the current market value of land of the PTDC and current assets as well as ongoing cases in the NAB and Islamabad High Court. The committee also asked the PTDC to consult with the State Bank of Pakistan about the valuation of its land and assets.
The Cabinet Division official told the committee that there are 533 employees at the PTDC headquarter, of them 44 are of grades-17 and above, while 308 employees are of grade 1-16. It was told that the PTDC has 35 motels, three restaurants, one hotel, and 12 vehicles. Member Senate Committee, Senator Usman Khan Kakar, said that the bus service should be started between the provinces to promote tourism.
The joint secretary Cabinet Division told the committee that the PTDC has 18 acres of land in Punjab, 10 acres in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, four acres in Sindh, 172 acres in Balochistan and 30 acres of land in Gilgit-Baltistan. About the budget, the official of the Cabinet Division told the committee that total budget of PTDC is Rs 628.14 million.
He said that there is Rs 30 million budget for PTDC headquarters, Rs 38.8 million for Punjab, Rs 30 million Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rs 60 million for Sindh, Rs 20 million for Balochistan, Rs 20 million Gilgit-Baltistan and Rs 25 million for Jammu and Kashmir.
