The annual elections of Lahore Gymkhana Club will take place today. More than 5,000 permanent members of the Club will elect a 12-member management committee for a period of three years. The committee members will elect their chairman to run the affairs until 2019.
There is a strong contest between the panel of outgoing chairman Mian Misbahur Rehman and a former bureaucrat Kamran Lashari. In addition 15 independents are also among the contestants.
The business community is supporting Mian Misbah by and large while the bureaucrats are backing Lashari. Meanwhile, presence of a good number of potential independents may also upset the results, said Club sources.
