The Supreme Court (SC) dismissed on Wednesday a petition seeking the disqualification of Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rashid for misdeclaring his assets in elections 2013.

A three-member bench, headed by Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and comprising Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, resumed the hearing and passed the verdict in Rashid's favor, local media reported. Justice Isa wrote a dissenting note suggesting that the matter should be sent to a full court for further proceedings and hearings.

After the SC announced its verdict, Rashid, while speaking to the media outside the court, warned Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif that he was coming for them.

The SC had reserved its verdict after hearing arguments from both sides on on March 20. Rashid was accused in a petition filed by Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz's leader Shakeel Awan, in which he alleged that Rashid misdeclared his assets in the nomination forms that he filed to the Election Commission of Pakistan for the elections in 2013. Awan lost to Rashid in Rawalpindi’s NA-55 constituency.
