KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, A.D.Khawaja on Friday directed the officials concerned to prepare and submit a contingency plan with regard to security arrangements across Sindh for holding impartial, transparent, free and fair general election.
In a statement issued here, he said that implementation on the code of conduct of the election be incorporated in the priorities and leaders and office-bearers of all political parties be taken into confidence as well as their cooperation in holding free and transparent election be sought.
He also directed the DIGs to further develop close liaison with Police, Rangers and all other law enforcement agencies and make security arrangements with their consultation.
Joint duties by the law enforcement agencies at the sensitive polling stations be the part of the election security plan, he added.
He said that security of the election staff and safe and secure transportation of ballot boxes to the polling stations be also incorporated in the election security plan.
He directed that the DIGs concerned should visited the polling stations in their respective jurisdictions to review arrangements and ensure snap checking, patrolling, recce and other necessary measures.
The IGP Sindh said that the bomb disposal squad should also be assigned duties in the election and a close coordination with the special branch should also be ensured.
He said that the monitoring of the whole situation at district and zone levels should be ensured.
The Sindh Police chief also directed for deployment of police commandoes on the sensitive polling stations while police flag march be organised ahead of the election day.
