Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) on Monday dispatched a 12-member group to Japan on a vocational education course. For this 18-day course, a send-off ceremony was organised here at a local hotel. Motoo Taki, senior representative of JICA, while speaking to the trainees expressed the hope that they would benefit from this experience and would return with a sense of commitment towards the people of Pakistan. "I further hope that you will make lifelong friends during your visit to Japan," he added.
About the importance of training the youth, Taki said that after completion of the course the trainees should have better understanding of the system of government in Japan and "hopefully the acquired knowledge would help broaden your vision for the future of Pakistan."
The group includes principal, instructors and administration officers working in vocational schools and vocational training centres set up by federal and provincial governments.
Rehana Kosar, one of the participants of the course, said in a promising tone that they would try to imply the Japanese experience in improving the vocational training facilities in Pakistan.
The training programme for young leaders has been initiated by the government of Japan under its technical co-operation scheme for Pakistan. The course has been designed essentially for young vocational educational professionals from the provincial and federal government in Pakistan.
The training programme for young leaders was started by JICA in 1991 and till date around 500 government officials from various ministries and departments of the government of Pakistan have been sent to Japan on training in various technical and management fields.
