President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday telephoned PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and condoled the death of latter's youngest brother Mian Abbas Sharif. Sources said during the telephonic conversation, both the leaders discussed prevailing political situation in the country. The President reportedly appreciated the declaration of the opposition parties convened by Nawaz Sharif supporting democracy.
The President reiterated his commitment that the government would hold free, fair and transparent elections on schedule and political parties would be consulted in relation to a caretaker set-up. The President said he would also visit Raiwind to personally offer condolence.
