PESHAWAR: Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal Thursday said provision of quality higher education to youth is imperative to make country stand prominent among comity of nations.

Addressing inaugural ceremony Research and Seminar block of IM Sciences here, he said due to wise policies of the existing government the country is put on path of peace, prosperity and development, adding the situation was totally inverted five years ago when PML-N came to power.

He deplored that due to negative politics of past the country suffered a lot, saying that the past government pay attention to acquiring F-16 technology from USA instead of strengthening educational tie for youth.

He mentioned that Korea, China and several other countries of the world emerged as developed nation after improving their educational standard. He said the present government introduced provision of free of cost laptop scheme despite limited resources and today thousands of students are getting benefit from it.

Ahsan said that educational facilities are being provided to Afghan students enabling them to go back to their homeland and work for its development and strengthening of bilateral ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The Interior Minister said the country does not need memorizing books rather true researcher and experts in various fields. He stressed upon institutions of higher education to encourage and promote research in each and every sector and remove flaws in the system.

He said the image of Pakistan is improving internationally especially the students are proving themselves in the field of information technology.

The Minister emphasized on continuous struggle in the field of education while keeping in view the limited resources available to make the country a developed nation.

Ahsan Iqbal appreciated performance of IM Sciences and said that the institute was play a pivotal role in promotion of higher and quality education, adding that in a very short time it emerged one of the best institutes of the country and the world as well.

On the occasion Joint Director IM Sciences Osman Ghani highlighted the achievements of the institute saying that in 2018 the institute completed 23 years, adding the institute switched from two programs to 25 during the period.

At the time of start there was only one Ph.D and today there were 40 who were imparting quality education the students.
