NAB arrests four accused in housing scam

MULTAN: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Multan arrested four accused in investigation against Naseer Ahmed Khan Tabassum and others developers and sponsors of Gulshan Mehr Ali Housing Scheme, Tehsil Kabirwala, Khanewal, for cheating the public at Large.

According to details, a complaint was submitted by 20 people alleging the accused for cheating them under the business name Nasir Garden Housing Scheme in year 2006. Later, the housing scheme was renamed to Gulshan Mehr Ali Housing Scheme Phase III, Kabirwala Khanewal. Subsequently more complainants were registered with the NAB against the accused involved in the housing scheme scam.

The accused cheated 99 people for an amount more than Rs 100 million. The accused without obtaining NOC from authorities concerned started the housing scheme and kept collecting money from general public till their arrest.

Accused Naseer Ahmed Khan Tabassum, Nasir Ahmed Khan and Rana Muhammad Qasim are involved in earmarking the land for residential colony while Mian Iftikhar is developer for Gulshan Mehr Ali Housing Scheme Phase III.

The four accused will be produced before the Judge Accountability Court Multan on March 8.

Atiq Ur Rehman, Director General NAB, said the NAB Multan was strictly following the proactive approach for disposal of all cases and all efforts were being made to root out corruption and corrupt practices without fear and favour to any one.
