PESHAWAR: The counting of votes of the Senate Election in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly started after the completion of the voters amidst tight security in and around Provincial Assembly Building with a total of 122 voters exercising their right of vote in the Senate Election-2018 on Saturday.
Soon after ending of the costing of votes at 4.00 p.m, the presiding officers have started the counting of votes polled during the Senate election-2018.
MPA Zia Ullah Afridi had polled the first vote, followed by Lutuf-ur-Rehman while the name of Baldev Kumar is not in the voter list and another MPA from Swat has been disqualified by the court recently so out of 124 voters 122 voters exercised their right of vote. The last vote was polled by Muhammad Ali of Jamaat-e-Islami.
As per the Election Commission of Pakistan a total of 24 candidatures are in run for the 11 vacant seats. The successful 11 candidatures will represent KP in the Upper House of the Parliament.
In KP there are 12 candidatures are contesting for 7 general seats, five are in run for the two seats for Technocrats and seven are contesting for two female seats.
Over all 132 candidates are contesting for 52 senate seats in the Upper House of the Parliament of Pakistan with 11 seats each from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, 12 seats each of Punjab and Sindh, 4 seats from FATA and 2 seats from Islamabad.
