Afghan war cannot be fought on Pakistan’s soil: Qayyum

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Lt. Gen (Retd) Abdul Qayyum Thursday said Afghan war could not be fought on Pakistan’s soil.
Talking to PTV, he termed Afghan war the second largest misadventure in the history of the world. He said thousands of people were killed and injured in that war. The United States (US) had failed in upholding peace in Afghanistan, he added.
The senator said Pakistan wanted durable peace in Afghanistan through the dialogue process. Replying to a question, he said Pakistan had eradicated menace of terrorism and destroyed hide-outs of terrorists and militants.
Abdul Qayyum said Pakistan was a free and democratic state and it took all decisions in its best national interest.
