Farooq Sattar challenges ECP's jurisdiction in convener-ship

Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan’s (MQM-P) PIB faction chief Farooq Sattar challenged on Thursday the Election Commission of Pakistan's (ECP) jurisdiction, saying that it had no right to make decisions regarding his party.
According to local media reports, Farooq has requested the ECP to dismiss the applications filed by the Bahadurabad faction of MQM-P and let the issue be resolved as per the party’s constitution.

Sattar arrived at the ECP's office with MQM-P workers, who were not allowed to enter the office and were removed from the vicinity. The hearing is currently underway.
On February 27, ECP had given two days time to Sattar to submit his response regarding Rabita Committee's application challenging the intra-party elections held on February 18 and terming them as illegal. Farooq had been elected as the convener in the intra-party elections.
