Eid ul Fitr was celebrated with religious fervour and zeal in most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and in Malakand, Bajuar, Mohmand, Khyber agencies on Sunday. The religious festival observed in different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Mardan, Charssada, Shabadqar, Nowshera, Swabi, Malakand division, Dir-lower and Upper, Peshawar, Shangla. Battagram, Kohistan, D I Khan and other parts the province and various tribal agencies.
This year controversy persisted over sighting of moon, because of which three Eids will be celebrated in the country. The Zonal Reut-e-Hilal Committee, met with its chairman Mufti Shahabuddin Papolzai Saturday night here at Masjid Qasim Ali Khan, announced to celebrate Eid after receiving 25 witnesses and evidences from various parts of the province.
The leader of Tehreek-e-Suba Hazara, Baba Haider Zaman, had endorsed the decision of Central Ruet-i-Hilali Committee.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had also officially announced to celebrate "Eid-ul-Fitr" on recommendations of Zonal Ruet-i-Hilal committee. The Eid Prayers first time offered in Chief Minister House, wherein ANP-Central President Senator Asfandyar Wali Khan, Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti, KP Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Provincial Senior Minister Bashir Ahmad Bilour and party others leaders and activists attended. The Chief, Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam, Maulana Fazlur Rehman offered Eid prayers in Dera Ismail Khan.
However, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Barrister Masood Kasuar, will celebrate "Eid-ul-Fitr" with Federal Government today (Monday) according to decision of Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee.
Meanwhile, the main Eid congregation held at Eidgah Charssada road, in which Federal Minister for Railway, Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, and a large number of faithfuls were offered the prayer.
On the occasion, Ulema and religious scholars delivered special sermons and highlighted the significance of Eid and holy month of Ramazan.
The Afghan refugees and Internally Displaced People from tribal region also celebrated Eid and offered prayer in their makeshift camps, including Shamsatu, Badaber, Baghbana, Jalozai, University road and other areas.
