ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday sought details regarding regulation of illegally constructed marriage halls and marques in the federal capital.

The court remarked that if by-laws were not implemented then Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) would be held responsible.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Ijazul Ahsan heard the case.

During the course of proceedings, the counsel for CDA informed that steps were being taken to regulate illegal marriage halls and marques in the capital.

Additional Attorney General Rana Waqar informed the court that the by-laws would be implemented after the advertisement in the newspapers.

The chief justice inquired that whether the meeting of CDA board in the subject matter had been convened on which Additional Attorney General Rana Waqar replied that the meeting of the board had been convened in which the condition of sewage and waste management for the wedding halls had been approved.

The court asked the Additional Attorney General to inform the court about timeframe for the regulation of wedding halls on which Additional Attorney General replied that they had given six months time to wedding halls to get regulated and those failing in compliance would be penalised.
