ISLAMABAD: Senate standing committee on energy Tuesday decided to take strict action against the fuel companies who violate the regulation regarding the operation area.
The committee was met under the chairman ship of Senator Mir Israrullah Khan Zehri while Senator Baz Muhammad Khan, Taj Muhammad Afridi and Nisar Muhammad attended the meeting.
The committee directed to Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority OGRA to issue notice of 15 days to violator companies and after next 15 days issue suspension order to the companies who exceed to their limits of area of operation and constructed the fuel pumps.
OGRA representative told the committee that, recommendations have already made against the companies and we have directed DCO to seal the pumps that have broken the law.
She told the committee that in last four years companies have filed penalty of 30 million Rs for illegal pumps.
Member of the committee expressed dissatisfaction over the amount of penalty to violator companies and decided to write letter to provincial governments to not to give NOC for the construction of pumps out of the designated area.
Over the ‘Private Power and infrastructure board (Amendment) bill 2017’ the committee was briefed that, the amendments recommended by the ministry has been approved and bill was sent to National Assembly after approval of senate. Director of OGRA briefed the committee regarding over charging and quality check by the OGRA.
Committee directed OGRA to call Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) in the next meeting.
