Industrialists and Textile Exporters have expressed grave concern over the 14 to 18 hour unscheduled load-shedding of electricity and stated that the energy crisis is yielding unemployment in the country and terrorism activities.
Talking to newsmen, Chaudhry Salamat Ali, former Chairman and & Chief Co-ordinator, Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association said that the load shedding of electricity converted into double figure after announcement of the government for ending the load-shedding. Now, the shortfall of electricity has multiplied to 5000 MW, while peoples are facing 14 to 18 hours unscheduled load-shedding, he added.
Furthermore, Chaudhry Salamat said that the Industrial Units in Faisalabad Region remained closed since last two months due to closure of gas supply for indefinite period. He demanded the government of saving investment of billion dollars in industrial sector of Punjab and energy crisis should be solved in the best interest of the country.
He demanded a proper shutdown schedule so that they could manage their affairs according to the schedule. When contacted, a spokesman for FESCO said the authorities could not give any schedule as power had been suspended from Faisalabad.
Meanwhile, People are facing problems due to 18-hour-long loadshedding here and in adjoining localities. The load shedding duration has increased and power supply remains suspended for 18 hours during 24 hours. Due to power outage, many electronic appliances have been damaged. The suspension of power supply for hours has become a routine matter for the last one year but the people took it lightly because of cold weather. Due to the power shutdown, citizens faced an acute shortage of drinking water.
