Professor Lalani voices concern over rising use of drugs among students

Government City College F B Area in collaboration with EDUGAME Show.Com has organised an introductory programme on Prevention of Drug Abuse. Speaking on this occasion, the Principal of the College, Professor Pyarali Lalani stressed that the students should not only avoid using cigarettes, Gutka, Supari, betel leave and other unhygienic things themselves but also convince others to refrain from using the same.
He said that students, teachers, parents and members of civil society should unite against this hazardous practice, which is destroying our new generation and added that collective efforts are needed to promote the message of Healthy Body and Health Mind and denial of drugs in the society.
Professor Lalani expressed his serious concern over rising sale and use of cigarettes, Gutka, Supari and other such preparations injurious to health among students as they are easily available at the corner of every street and even from vendors standing outside of almost every school and college of the city. The government departments concerned do not bother to take any punitive action against these anti-social and illegal businesses, which are causing growing use of drugs among the youngsters.
Professor Lalani vowed to organise drug abuse awareness programmes in every school and college of Karachi Chief of Aas Rehabilitation Foundation, Dr Aamir also briefed the participants about hazards of drugs' use in detail. He introduced some of his patients, who became addicted to heroin and other harmful drugs in their early boyhood.
These affected gentlemen also shared their experience with audiences and strongly advised the students to avoid using cigarettes, Gutka and other intoxicative chewable as their use makes them ultimately addicted to heroin, alcohol and other narcotics. In the end of the programme, co-ordinator of EDUGAME Show.Com, Akbar Werani, who also hosted the function, administered the oath of giving up use of every kind of drugs and intoxicative things to the students. Later, Gulab Shah and his team presented demonstration of Marshal Art, which was highly appreciated by the audience.-PR
