HRW wheat bids steady to firmer

Hard red winter wheat basis bids were steady to firmer on Monday with higher protein levels sought and country sellers still holding tight to supplies. Protein premiums for railcar wheat to and through Kansas City were 5-13 cents higher for 11.60- through 14.00 percent protein wheat supplies. HRW wheat continued to trade at a wide discount to spring wheat, giving it added appeal for millers.
Egypt's General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC), has increased the protein content requirement for wheat it asks for in tenders, traders said on Monday, citing a GASC statement. The minimum protein content for Kazakh wheat is now 12.5 percent, for Russian wheat 12 percent and for other origins 11.5 percent, a document faxed to traders and obtained by Reuters showed.
