Prices sharply lower on grain market

Falling trend was seen on the wholesale grain market on Monday as grams prices drifted lower due to lack of buying interest, dealers said. On the grams side, grams Australian No 1 lost Rs 450 to Rs 4550-5050, grams Australia No 1 dal followed suit, losing to Rs 6000-6200, grams Australia No 2 shed Rs 150 to Rs 4650-4850, grams Australia No 2 dal fell by Rs 200 to Rs 5700-5900.
Yellow peas Canada shed Rs 50 to Rs 4100-4300, yellow peas Canada dal was down by Rs 100 to Rs 4500-4700, yellow peas Ukraine lost the same amount to Rs 3900-4100 and yellow peas Ukraine dal also shed the equal amount to Rs 4400-4600, they added. On the cereal side, wheat old and new Bardan were quoted lower at Rs 2575-2580 and 2590-2595, other commodity items retained the weekend levels in process of trading, they said.
On the seed side rapeseed cakes low type was up to Rs 920 and better type gained Rs 15 to Rs 930 due to fresh arrivals, til, however, lost Rs 50 to Rs 3450-3750, cottonseed oilcake with bag Sindh low type picked up Rs 100 to Rs 1100 while the inferior type did not show any change at Rs 1200, they said. Prices retained the weekend levels on the rice sector due to balanced demand and supply, they said.
