Indonesian medical team visits Lahore

A 20-member delegation headed by Dr Rita Kusriastuti of Health Ministry of Indonesia, came to Lahore on the invitation of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Sunday visited Mayo, Ganga Ram, Services and Children hospitals and in addition to review the condition of the patients exchanged views with the doctors and paramedical staff.
They informed that most of the patients in the hospitals can be treated at home and only dengue and hemorrhagic patients need to come to hospital. They informed that as desired by the Punjab Chief Minister, they will stay in Lahore for two weeks and will perform services along with doctors and nurses in various hospitals of the Lahore from tomorrow in different clinical groups.
While talking to media, Group Leader Dr Rita informed the that dengue virus was diagnostic in Indonesia 40 years back and at present this epidemic is fully controlled there. She said that nursing is more important than the doctors for dengue patients. She hoped that in the light of the experiences in Indonesia, long-standing solution of dengue virus would be made in Lahore. She thanked Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and declared it a timely but unmatched step.
While giving briefing to the 20-member delegation of Indonesian experts, Medical Superintendent Services Hospital, Dr Muhammad Javed informed that on the instruction of Punjab government free of cost medical treatment is being provided to the dengue patients round-the-clock and special wards and counters have been set up for these patients. M S Ganga Ram Hospital Dr Muhammad Ejaz Shaikh informed that the death ratio of the patients coming to this hospital is very low which is 0.6 percent. He also carried the Indonesian team to various departments of the hospital. Likewise, briefing was given to the Indonesian team in Mayo and Children hospitals.
According to the details, on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, the coming two weeks schedule is being prepared between Indonesian experts and Punjab Health Department under which 20-members team would be divided into groups and their helps would be sought for the patients in various hospitals of Lahore on daily basis.
