Hard red winter wheat basis bids were steady to firmer Thursday as some dealers sought to bring in bushels out of the country. Farmers were holding tight to supplies awaiting higher prices. Substitution of hard red winter wheat for spring wheat remained a demand point. Protein premiums for railcar wheat to and through Kansas City were steady to 7 cents higher with gains noted across the scale.
