All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) has announced millions of rupees relief package for the flood and dengue-affected people in Sindh and Punjab, taking lead in meeting the corporate social responsibility and responding to public worries on the natural calamities.
Chairman Aptma, Gohar Ayub told media at a press conference on Saturday that the Aptma general body has approved Rs 50 million relief work for flood affected people in Sindh and Rs 10 million-relief work for dengue affectees in Punjab. He said the Aptma members have further approved a committee to look after the relief work under his chairmanship, starting relief work in Badin and Sanghar districts of Sindh immediately. Under the relief work, the association would provide camps, food and other essential needs of people of two rain-led flood-affected Sindhis.
He said that they would reach the flood-affected districts for relief work, especially the four districts of Sindh where cotton crop is damaged severely. He expressed hope that the cotton crop size would be 13 million bales this year. According to Chairman Aptma, Aptma Welfare Foundation Punjab has also been activated to provide infrastructure support to the Punjab government in its fight against dengue virus.
"Aptma will provide seven machines, for blood count and platelets," he said, adding: "Five machines would be dedicated to blood count and two would be specified for platelets for dengue affected people in Punjab." He said the Aptma would bear the cost of Rs 10 million for these seven machines to be handed over to the Punjab government.
Concluding, he said the Aptma is fully alive to the concept of CSR and would leave no stone unturned in helping out the respective governments in the need of hour. He said Aptma is not only earning foreign exchange for the country, providing jobs to 15 million work force but also contributing to welfare of people of Pakistan.
