A Delegation of Pakistan Britain Trade and Investment Forum (PBTIF) met government functionaries and private sector businessmen here on Saturday to explore areas of investment in Punjab. The Punjab Board of Investment Trade (PBIT) co-ordinated and facilitated the PBTIF in arranging the Lahore leg of the delegation's visit, which was headed by Nadeem Khan and Ms Saira Ahmed, Commercial Councillor at Pakistan High Commission in UK, disclosed an official.
The PBIT arranged a comprehensive full-day programme and showcased investment opportunities to the delegates and selected areas of investment beforehand. Speaking on the occasion PBIT Vice-Chairman Rizwan Ullah Khan said the Punjab government is willing to go extra mile to facilitate investment in Punjab, this also includes change in policies and bylaws to suit best to the investors' needs.
On the occasion, Secretary Mines and Minerals Shahid Mehmood, Secretary C&W Maj(Retd) Azam Suleman Khan and Secretary Energy Rab Nawaz briefed the delegation about potential projects in the province, including mining of iron ore, coal mining and rock salt, Lahore Ring Road (southern loop) project and Hydro, Biomas (waste to energy) and coal power projects.
The delegates set up immediate follow-up meetings with counterparts to explore the opportunities available. A working group has also been established to address queries regarding the iron ore project advertised by the mines and mineral department for exploration of Chiniot/Rajoa iron ore.
