Revenue collection target: FBR denies downward revision

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has strongly dispelled the impression that the revenue collection target of Rs 1588 billion has been further revised downward to Rs 1581 billion for 2010-11. Talking to Business Recorder here on Monday, a senior FBR official said that the revenue collection target of Rs 1588 billion had not been changed.
"There is no justification to further downward revision of revenue collection target during last three days of June 2011," he said. He added that the board would be able to meet the revenue collection target of Rs 1588 billion by end of June 2011 due to enforcement and administrative measures in the field formation.
