Sharp rise was seen in the prices of grams on the wholesale grain market on Wednesday in process of trading, dealers said. On the cereal side wheat old bardan and new bardan extended gains, rising by Rs 25 to Rs 2600-2615. Makai was quoted lower at Rs 2375, other commodity items retained overnight levels in process of modest trading, they said.
On the grams sector grams Australia gained Rs 200 to Rs 4700-4900, gram dal Australia followed suit and picked up the same amount at Rs 5700-5900, grams 50x50 also rose by Rs 250 to Rs 5450-5650 due to forward buying by consumers ahead of Ramazan, they said.
On the seed side cottonseed oilcake with bag Sindh low type shed Rs 25 to Rs 1355, however, good type rose by Rs 15 to Rs 1425, they said. Only one change was seen on the rice sector, Irri-6 Sindh low type gained Rs 50 to Rs 3650 while the better type retained the overnight level at Rs 3700, they said.
