Chief Executive, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Tariq Puri has advised business community to present their complaint regarding Pakistan China Free Trade Agreement (FTA) at next meeting of commerce ministry advisory committee. Speaking at a meeting of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Tuesday, he also advised to give suggestions for new trade policy so that they should be examined and included where possible.
He informed that TDAP would participate in more than 100 international exhibitions to be held in different countries. He advised members of the chamber to participate in these exhibitions to launch their products in world market and develop person to person contact for boosting Pakistan's exports.
He informed that a delegation comprising of TDAP officers and representatives of trade bodies will visit Vietnam soon to discuss issues related to two-way trade and investment with government and trade bodies of Vietnam. Referring to export target, Tariq Puri appreciated business community extra ordinary efforts to meet the 20010-11 export target of 20 billion dollars and hoped that they will further gear up to meet the export target of 25 billion dollar export set for the year 2011-12.
Emphasising the need of regional trade, he said that India, China, Japan and other countries are big market and Pakistan exports should concentrate on these markets to get their share. President KCCI, Saeed Shafiq said that the commercial consul posted abroad must play their role to boost Pakistan exports and improve Pak image. He said foreign and local investors have been unhappy due to high cost of manufacturing, law and order condition and bad image of Pakistan that has reduced investment in the country.
