In order to improve tax collection system here, special booths and service centres are being established on the pattern of swift centres in different parts of the city by the Excise and Taxation Department.
Director Excise and Taxation Rawalpindi, Rizwan Akram Sherwani, after taking over the charge of his office, issued special instructions to implement the reforms programme which will help improve the tax collection system. Citizens would also be facilitated in this regard, said a spokesman of the department while talking to APP.
He said that special directives for establishment of special booths and service centres, besides the existing Excise Office facility, has been issued. Initially, a booth of motor branch of excise and taxation department is being set up at Peerwadhai Bus-stand, which will be functional from first week of July, he said. The spokesman informed that the facility would be for paying token tax of six-seat and big commercial vehicles.
Likewise, a service centre on the pattern of swift centre in commercial market Rawalpindi is being established while the GPO would also be linked with excise department for collection of commercial vehicles' token tax. The citizens would be able to easily pay the tax at their nearest point, he maintained.
