Activity at Karachi port

The Karachi Port handled 149,980 tonnes of cargo including 108,932 tonnes of import cargo, 41,048 tonnes of export cargo and 4,527 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 108,932 tonnes comprised of 27,989 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,567 tonnes of general cargo; 31,620 tonnes of bulk cargo and 40,756 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 41,048 tonnes comprised of 31,448 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,818 tonnes of general cargo; 5,282 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,754 tonnes of cement; 3,528 tonnes of wheat and 2,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Three ships namely Viona, Greenwich Bridge and Badr carrying two container ships and crude oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Five vessels viz Hansan Century, Salis, APL Chicago, Calmy Coral and Yong Xing carrying three container ships, general cargo ship and steel coils respectively are currently at the berths.
Eight ships namely Nirmal Gautam, Honor, Hansa Century, Salis, Calmy Coral, Prestige New York, Leader and Oriental Chemi with coal carrier, vehicles ship, two container ships, two general cargo ships and oil tanker and base oil tanker expected to sail on Saturday, while another ship namely Serasih-2 with coal carrier is expected to sail on Sunday.
Two vessels viz Positano and Abtin-1 carrying two container ships due to arrive on Saturday, while five vessels viz Quetta, YM America, Safina-2, UBC Cyprus and Li Jin carrying crude oil tanker, container ship, two cement carriers and general cargo ship respectively are due to arrive on Sunday.
