CDGK forms 527 teams to administer polio vaccine to 2.7 million children

Karachi City Government (CDGK) has formed 527 teams of vaccinators to administer oral polio vaccine (OPV) to 2.7 million, upto five years of age children, during the three-day anti-polio vaccination campaign that begins in the metropolis on Monday.
EDO-Health CDGK, Dr Nasir Javed told newsmen on Saturday that more than 5,000 health workers would also participate in the campaign, being launched in co-ordination with Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI-Sindh). There would also be 284 health centres in different areas of city to provide the facility of oral anti-polio vaccination, he added. He advised the parents that in case of any delay in arrival of vaccinators' to their homes they might themselves carry their children to these centres for the essential vaccination.
"This time we have ensured that none of the volunteer or health worker assigned the responsibility to administer OPV is below the age of 18," he said in reply to a question. He said teams would also be available at bus stations and railway stations so as to ensure that children of target group reaching or leaving the city were administered OPV drops.
