Rs 4.5 million fine imposed on Afridi

As per expectations, there is drop scene of row between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and cricketer Shahid Afridi, as Disciplinary Committee of PCB Thursday imposed a Rs 4.5 million ($52,300) fine on former skipper for violating PCB's code of conduct. The PCB Disciplinary Committee has also recommended issuance of no-objection certificate to Afridi to clear his participation in domestic Twenty20 tournaments abroad.
Afridi will now be able to play for Hampshire for the remainder of the Friends Life T-20 in England. Shahid Afridi on Thursday appeared before PCB Disciplinary Committee comprising Sultan Rana, Director Domestic Cricket (Chairman), Shafiq Ahmed, G.M Domestic Cricket (Member) and Usman Wahla, Manager International Cricket (Member).
Shahid Afridi pleaded guilty to the charge of violating PCB's code of conduct and accepted the verdict of the disciplinary committee, but he did not apologise. "I accept my mistake but will not apologise," he said before appearing the disciplinary body at National Cricket Academy. He said he violated the PCB's code of conduct and had to do so due to circumstances prevailing at that time.
"I admit I have made mistakes but the circumstances forced me to do things. But I have not apologised to the committee," Afridi said. He said, "As a true sportsman and cricketer, I believe that for the future progress, advancement and success of cricket in Pakistan it is necessary to strengthen PCB as an institution."
Afridi also said he was in "no mood to play international cricket" but will decide about future after due consideration. He said he had accepted the decision of the Disciplinary Committee and we should see about future, as news involving the row defamed the country.
