Provincial Minister for Labour Haji Ehsaanuddin Qureshi has said that complete elimination of terrorism and extremism is necessary for the progress & prosperity of the country. He said that unemployment and poverty could be minimised through eradication of terrorism, whereas, extremism can be rooted out through promotion of quality education.
He said that 8 Daanish schools would be opened up during next fiscal year in less developed areas of the province, whereas, the amount of endowment fund has been increased up to Rs 8 billion for the next fiscal year.
Talking to various delegations, Haji Ehsaanuddin Qureshi said that by setting up of computer labs in thousands of schools, establishment of centres of excellence, provision of missing facilities in 10 thousand schools besides a number of steps have been taken for the promotion of modern education among the children of common men.
He said that all government schools will be given the status of English medium schools in 2011 while more than, 30 lakh children have been given admission in the schools so far as a result of primary enrolment campaign launched by the Punjab Government. He said that government is also awarding scholarships to thousands of talented students for studying in the country and abroad.
The government has also ensured the provision of modern health care facilities and free medicines to poor and resource less people and the budget for healthcare facilities has been increased four times during present government which has enhanced from Rs 11 billion to Rs 46 billion, he concluded.
