The Karachi Port handled 84,538 tonnes of cargo including 49,080 tonnes of import cargo, 35,458 tonnes of export cargo and 2,938 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 49,080 tonnes comprised of 12,015 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,067 tonnes of general cargo; 23,602 tonnes of bulk cargo: 18,000 tonnes of coal; 2,504 tonnes of canola seeds; 2,398 tonnes of rice and 5,396 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 35,458 tonnes comprised of 21,017 tonnes of containerised cargo; 124 tonnes of general cargo; 14,317 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,059 tonnes of cement; 11,956 tonnes of wheat and 302 tonnes of rice. Six ships namely Ocean Jade, Blossom, Cap Graham, Hanjin Rome, Violetta and Hs Challenger carrying coal carrier, chemicals carrier and four container ships respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Six vessels viz Kota Akbar, Tandis, Celina Star, Chembulk Minneapolis, Patriotic and BM Interpid carrying three container ships, two oil tankers and bunker respectively are currently at the berths. Four ships namely BM Interpid, Ocean Star, Ani Temouchment and Reis-G with bunker, rice carrier, coal carrier and wheat carrier respectively expected to sail on Friday.
Eight vessels viz Liwa, Oriental Chemi, Ital Oceano, Caribbean Sea, APL Sharjah, Marcampania, Ts Tokyo and OOCL Dalian carrying mogas, base oil tanker and six container ships respectively due to arrive on Friday, while five vessels viz Lodestar Genesis, Battery Park, OEL Trust, Banjo Bridge and Taroko carrying chemicals carriers, ethanol ship and three container ships respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total export cargo of 22,104 tonnes includes 4,679 tonnes of wheat; 2,389 tonnes of cement; 1,980 tonnes of rice and 13,056 tonnes of containerised cargo. Two container ships namely CV Santa Paola and CV New Delhi Express sailed out to sea on Friday morning.
A total number of seven vessels viz CV MSC Magali, CV Santa Paola, CV New Delhi Express, MV Abdul, Alexi-I, MV Irini and MT Al-Kuwaitiah are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, wheat and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours. Two ships namely Glory and Nahide-N Express carrying containers and wheat respectively are currently at the outer anchorage.
A total number of three vessels viz CV Glory, MT Victory Ocean and MT Patriotic carrying containers, palm oil and chemicals respectively are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday. Three ships namely CV Rio Elder, MV Radeim and MT Cattrick are due to arrive on Saturday, while two more ships namely CV Maersk Idaho and MT Al-Salam-II are due to arrive on Sunday.
