Famous film, TV and stage artiste Jameel Fakhri died here on Thursday after protracted illness. He was 65. The leading artiste was in a state of shock after getting the news about eldest son Ali Ayaz Fakhri's gruesome murder in the USA in December last. The great actor could not overcome his anxiety and was hospitalised in critical condition on May 31.
Fakhri was suffering from Diabetes and Blood-Pressure since long. He was also a cardiac patient and was put on a ventilator due to his weak respiratory system. Jamil Fakhri has a number of TV plays, stage performances and also some movies to his credit. He is widely known for his role as an SHO 'Jafar Hussain' in PTV's famous drama, Andhera Ujala, besides performing in other PTV shows like Piyas, Lahore Junction, Waris, Dunyadari, as well as special feature and Eid plays.
He also performed various roles in different Urdu and Punjabi films. He also worked as theatre artiste. He also performed an excellent role in "Puray Chand Ki Raat." Jamil Fakhri, who was a banker by profession, started his artistic career from a TV drama 'Thanda Bokhar.' Jamil Fakhri was survived by a wife and three sons.
His funeral prayers will be offered at his Ravi Road residence on Friday morning (tomorrow). President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani have expressed grief and sorrow over the sad demise of famous TV / film artist Jamil Fakhri. In their separate messages to the bereaved family, they conveyed their heartfelt condolences and sincere sympathies to the members of the bereaved family.
