PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak Wednesday assured release of Rs 7 billion for developmental schemes throughout the province which would be equally distributed among the areas of the province with focus on allocating lions’ share to the backward districts and areas of the province.

Talking to a representative delegation of JI Ministers led by Minister for Local Government Inayatullah at Chief Minister House here, he said PTI-led government initiated mega projects in road communications integrating different regions of the province adding it would cost Rs 80 billion, out of which Rs 40 billion has already been released.

He said the provincial government has also released Rs One billion for irrigation schemes this month and another matching release would be made in the coming month. He assured that his government would initiate projects worth Rs 22 billion through a uniform approach in the whole of the province.

He directed the officials concerned to finalize a comprehensive case for giving monthly stipend to “Paish Imam” and solarization of mosques throughout the province. Provincial Ministers and MPAs were also present at the occasion.

Pervez Khattak hinted at the inter connectivity of Swat Kalam to Dir Kumrat through road communication integrating different valleys to develop them on tourism lines. Once develop, this would become the most feasible tourists’ spot of the entire region, he added.

The Chief Minister said that the developmental strategy would carry the element of transparency and merit-based projects adding that the resources being allocated to the developmental strategy would be transparent, need driven and the spending of resources should benefit the neglected population of the province.

He directed the MPAs to prepare projects for their respective areas with focus on projects of electricity, sui gas and solarization as the people of the province suffered because of the unjust policies of the WAPDA subjecting the people to disproportionate and unbearable load-shedding in the province.

Pervez Khattak reminded the delegation that his government had started big projects of communication network with an allocation of Rs 80 billion out of which Rs 40 billion had already been released.

Chief Minister directed for the finalization of non ADP schools projects adding that he would convene a meeting soon to approve these projects meeting the set criteria.

Chief Minister said his government would provide Rs 22 billion for different projects in different sectors to be put on ground through the implementing agencies and departments.

He directed the education department to put on ground its schemes as the resources were already available and should be spent transparently.

He was optimistic that the developmental strategy would bring about a visible change in the outlook of the province.
