BRUSSELS: European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker spoke with Ireland's Prime Minister, his spokesman said, as he held talks with key EU parties over a Brexit deal with Britain.
Juncker will meet British Prime Minister Theresa May over lunch in Brussels on Monday in the hopes of finding an agreement. Where Britain's exit from the European Union leaves the situation between Ireland and Northern Ireland has been one of the major concerns in talks.
After Juncker met EU lawmakers early on Monday, in a sign a Brexit deal could be in reach, Commission spokesman Margaritis Schinas tweeted on Monday that Juncker had just spoken to Irish PM Leo Varadkar.
