PFF announces Fair Play Regulation

Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) on Friday announced 'Fair Play Regulation' which envisages that any player given a red card, or any coach ejected from a game will not be permitted to participate in the remainder of the game in progress.
"Fair Play is considered one of the most important elements in the game of Football. It is included as a major rule in FIFA's own Code of Conduct. To play fair is to play with grace and dignity, as it is to promote the more encouraging points to the supporters and to the younger generations so that the game is turned around into a more socially enjoyable experience. All manager/coaches are responsible for the conduct of their players, parents, and friends while the team is at the tournament both off the field as well as on the field," the spokesman said.
All players and coaches will be expected to demonstrate the highest standard of sportsmanship in the newly-introduced KPT-PFF Cup that will get underway at Karachi's KPT - Benazir Sports Complex, West Wharf Road, Kharadar from 23rd February to 7th March 2010.
Any player given a red card, or any coach ejected from a game will not be able to participate in at least the teams next scheduled game. The Match Commissioner report will be used whenever possible to help determine further penalty. These judgements will be made after reviewing the severity of the offence for which the red card was given and the decision will be final, the spokesman added. The ranking in fair play competition for teams will be judged on the following six criteria:
1. Expulsion/Caution cards: If no cards are shown the score will be 10. Every yellow card will deduct this total by 1. A red card will cost a team 3 points in the ranking. If the red card is the result of a second yellow card the deductions of the second yellow card will be ignored. But if a player gets a direct red card after he got a yellow card earlier, the yellow card will be counted as a deduction, that resulted in minus 4 points. It is only criteria of the six, having negative points from 1-10.
2. Positive play: Team gets reward of attacking/attractive play, avoiding rough tactics and time wasting play (1-10 Points).
3. Respect to the opponent: Returning the ball to the opponent at a throw-in, helping an injured opponent etc (1-5 Points).
4. Respect to the referee: Positive attitude and acceptance of referee and his collagues's decision without protest etc (1-5 points).
5. Behaviour of the team officials: Team management are expected to encourage the sporting, technical, tactical and ethic standards. Co-operation with Media shall also be vital factor (1-5 Points).
6. Behaviour of the fans: This criterion is ignored when the number of fans is negligible eg if there are no fans at all (1-5 Points). The total number of points obtained will be divided by the maximum number of points (40 or 35) and multiplied by 1000.
