India getting its first Hyperloop

Keeping up with technology, India is getting its first hyperloop technology that will reduce travel times immensely.

The country has asked a US-based research firm for developing a 27-mile vacuum tube on the cutting-edge hyperloop transportation tube technology that will connect the two cities in Andhra Pradesh province.

Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) will make a high-speed transportation system that will connect Vijayawada and Amravati. The journey that in modern day takes over 70 minutes will be cut down to six minutes.

According to HTT, after signing the Memorandum of Understanding with Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB), it will conduct a six-month long survey of the project, starting from October, which will show the best possible routes between the cities. After the six-month study, India’s first hyperloop’s construction will begin, informs Mumbai Mirror.

HTT chairman and co-founder Bibop Gresta expressed, “We are extremely delighted to sign the MoU with Andhra Pradesh government to bring the HTT Hyperloop to India. HTT in partnership with AP will work with local stakeholders to build the regulatory standards necessary for safe and efficient operation.”

The project is estimated to cost around Rs 1,285 crore and would be completed within a year after the initial research and approvals, an APEDB representative told India Times. Also, the project is planned to be developed under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model with funding mostly from private investors. APEDB and the Government of Andhra Pradesh will assist HTT with all the necessary requirements and develop and implement hyperloop in Amravati.
