KARACHI: Governor Sindh, Muhammad Zubair here on Wednesday endorsed the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill 2015 with revised claim amount for victims of road traffic.
The amendment in the Sindh Motor Vehicle Ordinance 1965, adopted by the provincial assembly on February two this year will be enforced with immediate effect across the province, said an announcement issued this evening.
As per amendment in case of death of insured passenger his/her heirs will be entitled to Rs. 500,000; victims losing sight (both eyes) will be paid Rs.250,000 and Rs.140,000 will be paid as insurance compensation for those being crippled (both lower limbs).
Victims of motor vehicles accidents can claim Rs. 75,000 for losing one eye and Rs.10,000 to Rs.65,000 for irreversible or reversible damage to any other organ.
Moreover, the word "Bank Guarantee" used in Sub Section One of Section 49, Sindh Motor Vehicle Ordinance 1965 has been replaced with Insurance Company Guarantee.
The Insurance Companies will also to be necessarily listed with Security Exchange of Pakistan and certified by the provincial government.
