The Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi Bench has asked the government to file reply on the habeas corpus petition filed by Mrs Khalid Khwaja against illegal detention of her husband. Friday was fixed the next date of hearing.
Single-bench of the august court headed by Justice Abdul Shakoor Paracha, after hearing the arguments of counsel, asked the Punjab Home Department to reply the charges levelled by the petitioner.
Mrs Khalid Khwaja pleaded in her petition that her husband was arrested and was sent to Adiala jail on judicial remand by the court. Punjab police took him to some unknown destination from Adiala Jail, which is not only contempt of court but also a gross violation of basic human rights. She prayed before the court that government should be asked to bring Khalid Khwaja back to Adiala Jail. The judge asked the Punjab Home Department to file the reply and adjourned the hearing till Friday.
