KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) Monday directed the Director General (DG) of National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) to submit a list of all cases sent by the authority to special branch of police or other agencies for verification of documents for issuance of Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs).
A division bench headed by Mr. Justice Nadeem Akhtar was hearing a petition filed by Erum Jabeen against NADRA for not issuing her CNIC.
The court asked the DG to appear in the court to explain the grounds behind sending all cases for verification.
The counsel of the authority informed the court that it had not blocked the CNICs of parents of the petitioner and her case had been sent to the special branch of police for verification.
The petitioner will be issued the identity card after the verification, he further informed.
Over the unsatisfactory reply by the authority's counsel regarding the reason of verification of documents, the court directed the NADRA to submit the list of cases sent for verification for issuance of CNICs.
