ISLAMABAD: Anti-polio campaign was launched in 12 districts of Balochistan to save the children from the crippling disease.
During the campaign, 1.6 million children will be administered polio drops for which strict security measures have been adopted, reported a private news channel.
At least 5148 mobile teams, 420 fixed sites, 482 transit points have been arranged for the three-day campaign.
Anti-polio drive is being run in Dera Bugti, Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdullah, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Khazdar, Pashin, Loralai, Quetta, Jhal Magsi, Zhob and Sheerani.
Frontier Corps (FC), police and Levies personnel have been deployed for security purpose.
Coordinator for provincial Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) Balochistan, Syed Faisal Ahmed has said that in the current year, 16 polio cases have been reported in Pakistan whereas only one case has emerged in Balochistan.
He revealed that polio virus had been detected from samples of filthy water taken from Qila Abdullah, Pashin and Quetta.
On the other hand, 16,94,000 children under five years of age will be inoculated polio drops for which 4300 teams have been formed and are being provided with complete security.
Town administrators are supervising the campaign.
The Administrators have requested the parents for their cooperation to make the anti-polio drive successful.
