SHC directs to handover all working women hostels to Women Development Department
HYDERABAD: The Sindh High Court Wednesday ordered the Sindh government to handover all working women hostels to the Women Development Department.
The Hyderabad Circuit Bench comprising justice Salahuddin Panhwar and justice Muhammad Iqbal Mehar provided 15 days deadline to the provincial government for completing the task.
The court during the hearing observed that the hostels were being occupied for other reasons instead of being used for the purpose of providing lodging facilities to the working women
"Chief secretary shall ensure the possession of working women hostels of all districts of Sindh to Women Development Department," the order read. However, the official could not satisfy the court with his answer.
The court also expressed displeasure at the absence of Secretary Women Development Department and issued show cause notice to the official, directing to appear in person to explain the reason in the next hearing.
Meanwhile, the petitioner Zainab Chandio prayed the court to order the officials of Panah Shelter Home Karachi to allow her to meet her daughter Wazeeran.
The court ordered the shelter home to arrange a meeting but subject to a prior permission from her daughter.
The hearing was adjourned to Dec 14.
