The Board of Directors of Kashmiri-American Council (KAC) discussed and analysed the current situation in Azad Kashmir and the Valley of Kashmir with regard to the damage done by the latest earthquake and KAC's involvement in humanitarian relief efforts in these two affected areas.
The KAC executive director, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai said from Washington DC tat Dr Khalid Qazi of Buffalo, New York, would lead a delegation of physicians on the Board's request to visit the region to provide aid to the victims on both sides of the LoC. Dr Qazi has been authorised to form a delegation to travel to the region around the time of winter holidays.
The KAC board has urged every concerned physician to take part in this humanitarian effort. Those interested should inform Dr Qazi whether or not they have the proper visa to travel to India and Pakistan.
The KAC board would also like to know how long the volunteer physicians intend to stay in the regions, said Dr Fai.
Dr Qazi will also consider the participation of non-physician volunteers for humanitarian purposes. It must be understood that the whole trip would be funded solely by the individual and not by the KAC or any other entity.
"Please be informed that KAC money raised for the earthquake relief is for the victims and therefore free of administration surcharge," he added.
