Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that the creation of new districts in the province was the right decision in the interest of the people. He said creation of Kamber-Shahdadkot District was one such decision and the problems of the people of this district will be resolved without any discrimination.
Dr Arbab, while addressing the newly-elected Union Council nazims, naib nazims and councillors of the district at Government Mono-Technic Institute on Wednesday, praised the people of the Kamber-Shahdadkot District for their active participation in the Local Government Election-2005.
The chief minister said the development projects including education, health, communications, water supply and drainage, village electrification, rural roads and other basic amenities will be launched in this new district.
He said to the nazims that the people of the district elected them as their representatives at grassroots level, now it is their duty to elect the Taluka and District Nazims.
"It is your prime responsibility that you should elect those persons who will serve without any discrimination and provide the basic amenities," Dr Arbab added.
He said the provincial government will monitor the performance of new district governments, adding co-ordination between the provincial and district governments was necessary and if any District/Taluka nazim would not work according to the rules laid down in Local Government Ordinance action will be taken against him under the law.
Chief minister has powers to remove such nazim if found guilty under the law, Dr Arbab added.
The chief minister said an amount of Rs 4.5 million was spent on the renovation of administrative offices in the newly created Kamber-Shahdadkot District.
The Sindh chief minister also met a delegation of notables of the area.
He assured the delegation that the development schemes will be provided to the district without any discrimination.
