UN chief salutes Steve Jobs accomplishments

banUNITED NATIONS: UN chief Ban Ki-Moon on Thursday hailed the legacy of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, saying he helped create products that changed the world.

"Steve Jobs was unlike any other," Ban said in a statement issued by his spokesman Martin Nesirky.

"He saw what others did not. He believed above all else in the power of human ingenuity to create 'tools' that people could use, that would not only improve our lives, but quite literally, change the world."

Jobs died on Wednesday of pancreatic cancer at the age of 56, some 35 years after founding the company that briefly passed ExxonMobil to be the most valuable group in market capitalization at $350 billion.
