Italian police have arrested a top Mafia boss - one of the government's 30 most-wanted criminals - after a 10-year manhunt, officials said on Friday.
Pasquale Tegano, a key figure in the bloody 'Ndrangheta Mafia which operates out of the southern Calabria region, was arrested during an overnight raid on an apartment in the city of Reggio Calabria.
"He was considered the most important and dangerous 'Ndrangheta fugitive until now," police said in a statement.
Tegano, 49, had been running from the law since 1994. He is wanted for murder and organised crime. Another three people were detained for allegedly aiding him.
According to parliament's anti-Mafia commission, the 'Ndrangheta has surpassed Sicily's Cosa Nostra as the most dangerous and "pervasive" criminal organisation in Italy, running a booming international cocaine trade.
